The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol testing program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
An SAP represents the major decision point (and in some cases the only decision point) an employer may have in choosing whether or not to place an employee behind the steering wheel of a school bus, in the cockpit of a plane, at the helm of an oil tanker, at the throttle of a train, in the engineer compartment of a subway car, or at the control valves of a natural gas pipeline.
C/TPA CONSORTIUMS AVAILABLE FOR RTD TESTS
DOT drug tests require laboratory testing for the following five classes of drugs:
Marijuana (THC): Detects cannabis use.
Cocaine (COC): Identifies cocaine use.
Amphetamines (AMP): Screens for amphetamine and methamphetamine use.
Opiates (OPI): Includes opium and codeine derivatives.
Phencyclidine (PCP): Detects PCP use.
Beginning November 18, 2024, State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) will be required to remove the commercial driving privileges from the driver's license of an individual subject to the CMV driving prohibition. This would result in a downgrade of the license until the driver completes the return-to-duty (RTD) process.
Craig Nelson was my SAP. He was very understanding with the situation. Knows exactly what needs to be done. Go to guy with this type of situation.
I highly recommend him and his team if you need help getting back to work or needing help resolving your CDL needs.
Very professional and prompt! Did everything they could to make this as smooth and quick as possible. I would highly recommend to anyone that’s has to deal with a situation regarding the clearinghouse!
Our Drug and Alcohol focused education program is specifically tailored to individuals in DOT covered, safety-sensitive positions. SAP SAFE education programs promote responsible behavior and teach about the risks of alcohol and certain drugs. An increase of awareness often translates to a reduced risk of future violations.
